Born in Escourt KZN and raised in the Vaal GP, Anzo is a talented rap artist with an immense passion for writing and performing.
In 2015, Anzo won the Back To The City 10k Challenge, an annual hip hop competition for artists and producers in South Africa. He dropped his debut LP that same year titled Indaba Yam, which he describes as iinganekwane from ekasi. In 2016 he returned to Back To The City, but this time to perform on the main stage.
In 2018, he featured on the evergreen ballad Eweni with Mzukulu and Sjava on the album Umqhele and then in 2019 Anzo’s songs iDelakufa and Ifalakhe were featured as soundtracks in Mzansi Magic’s eHostela and Ifalakhe respectively. In fact, he has proved himself to be the lord of TV music soundtracks and title sequence tracks: in 2021 Anzo was commissioned to write and perform the title tracks for the hit TV shows Durban Gen and Lingashoni, as well as for the critically acclaimed Stained Glass production The Wife. He also penned the closing sequence for the hugely popular show Uzalo.
In August 2020 Anzo and fellow stable mates collaborated to create the first body of work from 1020 Cartel, two time SAMA nominated - iSambulo . On the album, Anzo’s enchanting raps and oplished vocals bring depth and storytelling on the tracks uMfowethu, Amahora, Abanjani and Umntanakho.
In the subsequent year, Anzo lent himself to collaborations on songs Glory with Ghanaian artist D-Black ft Ice Prince and Sefa. As well as to chart topping Gawulubheke by MusiholiQ and Sjava.
In August 2021 Anzo dropped his debut EP 3310which features singles with Sjava and Aubrey Qwana. Umngani Wakho went on to the MetroFM Top 40 and Ukhozi FM charts.
Umthandazo feat Sphiwe Moya (Umzulu Phaqa) was nominated for best produced at the South African Hip Hop Awards.
